Former MP Ervin Salianji, invited to the Studio24 show, commented on the situation within the Democratic Party, focusing on the opposition's relations with international partners and the influence that, according to him, Sali Berisha's leadership has on these relations.
Salianji stated that he considers communication with international representatives important, while according to him, the DP is suffering diplomatic isolation because of Berisha.
"I consider it important that I have contacts with international representatives, while the DP, because of Sali Berisha, is in a different situation. There are people in the DP who hold meetings with internationals, but no ambassador enters the DP headquarters because Sali Berisha leads the party," he said.
The former MP emphasized that relations with international partners should not be seen as personal support for individuals or political groups, but as a necessity for the opposition and the country.
"The international community is not here to support one movement or another, but for partnership. We cannot say, like some, that we are waiting for someone from outside to come and liberate us," declared Salianji.
He underlined that maintaining contacts with strategic partners is vital for both the DP and Albania.
"Contact with international partners is vital, both for the Democratic Party and for Albania," the former MP concluded.
