French non-commissioned officer Arnaud Frion lost his life during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraqi Kurdistan, French President Emmanuel Macron announced in a post on the X platform.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026.
The French president stressed that the war in Iraq cannot justify such attacks, underlining the importance of respecting the lives of soldiers.
The attack, which claimed Frion's life, was part of a wider raid that took place in the Erbil region.
