Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made what appears to be a secret visit to the United Arab Emirates, CBS News reports.

Foreign media also write that Netanyahu met with the country's president, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

These statements were later confirmed by Netanyahu's office, saying that the "meeting advanced relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates."

The revelation of the visit comes after a Wall Street Journal report that the United Arab Emirates carried out military strikes against Iran last month.

The country has not publicly confirmed the information. Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, said that Israel had sent Iron Dome air defense systems and personnel to the United Arab Emirates.

According to a US official, Netanyahu had traveled to the United Arab Emirates again in 2018 to meet with Mohammed bin Zayed.

Recall that the United Arab Emirates was the first Arab country to sign the Abraham Accords in 2020, normalizing diplomatic relations with Israel under an agreement brokered by the United States.
