The Ministry of Justice has sent an official response to Socialist Party MPs Bledi Çuçi and Fatmir Xhafaj, regarding the transfer of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj from Durrës prison to Fier.
According to journalist Klodiana Lala's sources, the Minister of Justice has ordered the General Directorate of Prisons to inspect 24 prisoner transfers carried out over the last 11 days. "The General Directorate of Prisons is responsible," Minister Çuçi is reported to have said. The inspection aims to verify the procedures and circumstances in which these transfers were carried out, including that of Erion Veliaj.
The response of the General Directorate of Prisons is now awaited, which will report on the results of the inspection and verifications carried out.
