In a session scheduled to be held on February 21, the Tirana Court is expected to review Ilir Meta's lawsuit seeking divorce from his wife, Freedom Party MP Monika Kryemadhi.

The former president stated at the height of the SPAK investigations that he had filed a divorce petition with the court from Kryemadhi after 27 years of marriage.

Among other things, Ilir Meta listed in the lawsuit some of the reasons that led him to divorce the mother of his three children, one of which is politics.

"In recent years, I have initially noted disagreements and contradictions that have been increasing initially due to different attitudes and views regarding developments in the political, representative and decision-making aspects, but over time they have also become present in our marital relationship, until recently these inconsistencies in attitudes and opinions towards each other have resulted in occasional quarrels, deeply shaking our marital relationship," the lawsuit states.

According to the law, the first session is the one of reconciliation, where the parties are given one more opportunity to reunite. If reconciliation is not achieved, the court continues with the review of the divorce petition and its signing.
