Today marks one year since August 9, 2025, the day when the television editorial office News24 was forcibly removed from the premises where it had been carrying out its media mission since its creation.

It has been a year since one of the most important media outlets in the country faced an unprecedented intervention, when journalists and staff were prevented from entering their workplace, broadcasting was interrupted, and the television premises were surrounded by numerous police and military forces.

For years, News24 has reported and denounced government corruption, abuse of power and violation of the law by people in power. It has brought to light truths that many others have avoided and has maintained an uncompromising stance in the face of power. This stance was also the reason why, a year ago, such an attack was launched against the television.

In the early hours of the morning of August 9, 2025, journalists and employees were removed from the building and were not allowed to take their work tools, computers, documents and professional materials. Important archives and materials remained locked inside the building and were moved by army trucks.

A blow that directly affected the work of hundreds of employees News24, but also the public's right to be informed.

News24 suffered one of the most severe blows that a media outlet in Albania has ever experienced, but that day also proved something else, that a television station can be taken out of its building, but its mission to inform cannot be taken out of its soul.

After this blow came the revival. Within a very short time, the publisher of Focus Media News, Mr. Irfan Hysenbelliu, reorganized the staff and News24 resumed broadcasting.

Under extraordinary conditions, in improvised environments and with minimal resources, journalists went on the air and continued to inform the public.

A year later, News24 It is not simply a television that has survived. It is a television that continues to do what it did even in the most difficult days, to be on the ground and give a voice to citizens.

This is especially evident today, when for 71 days, an uninterrupted protest has been taking place in the country, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government.

News24 was there. He followed the protest day after day, broadcast live from the ground, interviewed protesters, organizers, and citizens, followed their demands, and covered its developments.

News24 has chosen to give space to the voices of citizens who protest and demand change.

A year ago, the doors of a building were closed. But the mission did not end. News24.
