"I do not agree that the defendants should be kept in a cage," said former DP MP Enkelejd Alibeaj in an interview on News24, while commenting on the trial of former President Ilir Meta, held this Monday.
Also during the interview, Alibeaj said that the court in such a case should be prudent. Regarding his position regarding the request to hold live sessions, he stated that live spectacles do not serve anyone.
"The courtroom is not a wedding hall. There should be security elements. Another extreme is the political spectacle and I have seen shades that politicians who are in proceedings or in court want to turn it into a spectacle, that is, they want to speak not only to the court, but also to the public. There is a great risk of moving justice from the courtroom to the emotions of the public. The court must be prudent in doing justice and transparency, but live spectacles would be excessive because they damage the public's perception of justice", he stressed.
