Former US President Barack Obama has reacted after the Democrats' victory in the US midterm elections, describing the result as a clear message from citizens about the need for political change in the country.
Through a reaction on the social network X, Obama stated that American voters have sought a policy that unites people and not a policy that deepens the divisions between them.
"Tonight, the American people sent a clear message - they want politics that unite people instead of divide them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face," the former president wrote.
During the election campaign, Obama was committed to supporting several Democratic candidates in important electoral states, including Michigan and Georgia.
He also emphasized that after the election results, Democrats should focus on concrete work and implementing the changes they are able to make.
"Our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the foundation for the future," Obama concluded.
The former president's reaction comes after the victory of the Democrats, who have secured a majority in both houses of the US Congress, changing the political balance of power in Washington for the last two years of Donald Trump's term.
