Kosovo Police have confirmed that over 80 kilograms of drugs were seized during an operation conducted in the country, where three suspects were also arrested.

"By order of the state prosecutor, a 48-hour detention order has been issued against the three suspects, while the state prosecutor will promptly undertake all further investigative actions," the announcement said.

According to the announcement, at 23:00 PM on Wednesday, suspect HS was stopped near the border crossing in Merdare connecting Kosovo and Serbia, while driving a truck.

During the search of the vehicles, authorities said they found 68 packages filled with suspected narcotic substances, such as marijuana, weighing 76 kilograms and 800 grams.

Authorities said that the investigation into this case, codenamed "Bregdeti", began several months ago, adding that firearms, ammunition, and cash were also found during the search of HS's house.

Meanwhile, this operation continued today, where the homes of two other suspects in Godishnjak, Podujevo, were raided, where four more packages of a substance suspected to be marijuana weighing 4 kilograms and 454 grams were found.

Police said that a gas-powered firearm was also found in Thursday's raid. In the past, Kosovo Police have conducted operations against the cultivation or sale of various narcotics, seizing quantities of drugs and arresting suspects.

In September last year, seven people were arrested on suspicion of several criminal offenses, such as participation in or organization of a criminal group, unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics, and money laundering.

For this operation, authorities had collaborated with Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Europol.
