This Thursday's parliamentary session was engulfed in harsh accusations, with DP MP Belind Këlliçi accusing the government after the murder of a police officer in Maliq.
In front of the Minister of Interior, Këlliçi raised strong questions about how it was possible that special forces were not sent to capture an extremely dangerous and wanted criminal, but rather members of the "Eagle" forces.
According to the Democratic lawmaker, special forces are kept away from dangerous operations as they are "retained" exclusively by the government to suppress protests, violate critical voices, and protect the central government, leaving ordinary law enforcement officers defenseless in the face of organized crime.
The regulation on interpellations and interpellations on urgent matters has a constitutional obligation to come and answer the questions of the deputies. It has been happening for years that the prime minister not only does not implement the constitution and the regulation of the parliament, but also does not physically come here to face either the deputies or the questions that concern the public opinion and the citizens.
We, as a political force, have made known our will that whenever the constitution is violated, we will react and we will no longer accept the trampling, bunkerization of this parliament, and the violation of the constitution whenever the prime minister or the chair of the session feels like it.
So, since you mentioned the first item on today's agenda, the urgent interpellation requested with the Prime Minister, we are telling you that the Prime Minister should be here to answer the questions of the opposition MPs and not one of the ministers delegated by him who actually reads his speeches. Coming to an issue that has shocked all Albanian citizens today, since we also have the Minister of the Interior here.
How is it possible that today in Maliq, a murder occurred, by a person with a criminal record considered very dangerous, and how is it possible, Minister of the Interior, that you, in order to neutralize and arrest a criminal, an ordinary soldier who is sentenced to prison and was wanted, sent the Eagle forces there, the operatives who do not have special treatment, and you did not send the special forces.
You keep the special forces to suppress protests, to hit protesters, to hit the opposition, to protect the prime minister's chair, to hit those young people you hit yesterday at the protest, and to suppress any critical voice against this majority. How is it possible that you know that you are going to arrest and detain a wanted person with a criminal record and a prison sentence, and you send two young men who you took by the throat. A 34-year-old officer who lost his life and a 36-year-old who is fighting for his life.
Meanwhile, to remind all the Albanian citizens once again of the names of those deputies who have proposed amendments to change the law on protected areas, to allow the destruction of protected areas, Albanian citizens, please know well: the 12 Socialist Party members who proposed that amendment are:
