Analysts Agim Baçi commented on the opposition's situation on the eve of the national protest called by the Democratic Party in Tirana, emphasizing the lack of broad civic support and the internal problems of the leadership.

Invited to the lunch program at News24, Baci said that if the protests fail to mobilize citizens, then the opposition is not fulfilling its role. "If citizens do not fill the squares angry, then we have a different situation. If the opposition is satisfied with this, I do not believe that this is the opposition," he said.

Baçi stressed that the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, is in a difficult political situation, as according to him, he has not fulfilled the promises made after returning to the party leadership.

"He promised that he would not allow election manipulation, but there are several points that penalize him in front of citizens," the analyst said, adding that these factors have contributed to the decline in trust in the opposition.

According to Baçi, the opposition needs new political figures who do not carry the "weight of the past" or accusations of political bargaining. He underlined that the current situation requires a refresh of leadership to restore credibility with citizens.

He also mentioned the case of court proceedings and "persona non grata" status, emphasizing that even if these issues are controversial, they have a negative impact on the opposition's image.

Baçi also touched on the tensions within the DP, especially the clashes with former MP Ervin Salianji. He criticized the unfounded accusations, emphasizing that any claim of connection to crime must be supported by facts.

"I don't see a Magyar within the DP. If this is the situation here, those who don't speak in forums and who are in the leadership, etc. are to blame. For the sake of truth, Salianji said it in the leadership and today we have an absurd situation. In politics, there are no words, there are public acts. If Salianji has communicated with crime, this must be proven. They must prove it and say it. As long as you say it and there are no facts, it is serious," he declared.

According to him, under the current conditions, Berisha "does not have the luxury of excluding anyone from the opposition", underlining the need for unity and internal debate.
