The NATO alliance has begun a gradual process to optimize the positioning of the KFOR mission troops in Kosovo. Regarding this development, the United States Embassy in Pristina has confirmed that this process will be carried out in close coordination with all relevant actors, reiterating that Washington's top priority remains maintaining regional stability in the Western Balkans.

Through an official response, a spokesperson for the US Embassy announced that throughout this phase, close cooperation between Kosovo security institutions, KFOR, EULEX and other international partners is expected to continue. The US diplomacy appreciated KFOR's commitment to guaranteeing a safe and stable environment that provides long-term protection for all communities.

This statement comes at a time when the NATO mission has announced changes in the reorganization of its troops, where special attention has been paid to the presence on the main bridge over the Ibar River in Mitrovica. Regarding this sensitive issue, KFOR has made it clear that the final decision on opening the bridge to traffic does not belong to this military mission, but to the European Union and the Kosovo institutions themselves.
