In its closing statement, the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has requested life imprisonment for Naim Murseli and the other defendants in the case of the murder of Liridona Ademaj. Prosecutor Javorka Perlinjkevic said during her speech that Murseli, Ademaj's husband, acted for financial and moral gain, simulating a robbery in which the victim was treated as "collateral damage", while according to the indictment, he participated in the organization and planning of the murder. Liridona Ademj was killed in November 2023. Murseli is accused of planning the murder. Granit Plava is accused of having committed the murder, while Kushtrim Kokalla is accused of having introduced the suspected accomplice to Murseli.

Perlinjkevic has proposed to the Basic Court in Pristina to find the accused guilty and sentence them to life imprisonment, arguing that the action, the manner of commission, the behavior after the event and the attempts at public manipulation aggravate their position, while according to her there are no mitigating circumstances, reports Betimi për Drejtësi. The prosecutor emphasized that during the trial three different versions of the event were presented by the accused, which, according to her, represent attempts to evade criminal responsibility and shift the blame to others, calling this "three different scenarios of one event."

She added that, according to the evidence presented, the accused Naim Murseli spent the afternoon of the critical day with the accused Granit Plava, with whom he is suspected of having purchased the weapon used in the commission of the crime, and of having used a borrowed car during that period. According to her, these circumstances do not match the statements of the defense and the analysis of the video recordings show coordinated movements of the vehicles. Prosecutor Perlinjkevic said that during the trial, material evidence was presented, all witnesses who had knowledge of the circumstances of the case were questioned, and evidence from the defense was also presented. She described the murder of Ademaj in front of her two children, who were four and six years old at the time, as “macabre”.

According to her, the eldest son, in the presence of the psychologist, stated: "he put his hand in and hit his mother". She also mentioned the testimony of the victim's brother, according to which the children have clearly explained the incident and do not want to communicate with their father, the accused Murseli, by refusing even the phone calls made possible through the Social Work Center in Sweden. The prosecutor in the case also mentioned that in June 2022, the Murseli family in Sweden had paid an insurance policy in the name of the victim Liridona Ademaj, and that according to her, after that, the accused Naim Murseli had asked the accused Kushtrim Kokalla to find a way to kill her.

How did the murder happen?
Liridona Ademaj was murdered at the age of 30 on November 29, 2023 on a street in the village of Bërnica, Pristina. The indictment charges Murseli with having planned the murder of his wife for the purpose of revenge and financial gain from a life insurance policy in Sweden, in the amount of approximately 260 thousand euros.

According to the Prosecution, Murseli planned the murder in collaboration with Kushtrim Kokalë and Granit Plavë, promising them a reward of 30 thousand euros to carry out the crime. The murder of Liridona Ademaj caused public outrage, especially after her husband attended the funeral. The family requested the exhumation of her body to bury it in the Ademaj family cemetery. Since 2010, about 60 women have been killed in Kosovo - most of them by their husbands. Human rights organizations criticize the justice system for lenient sentences for the perpetrators - which, they say, emboldens the perpetrators. /REL
