Democratic Party of Albania MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted sharply to recent developments in the Assembly, describing them as unconstitutional and a dangerous precedent for the functioning of parliamentary democracy.
According to Këlliç, the latest actions were taken without the decision of the Constitutional Court of Albania, which, according to him, has overturned the unilateral changes to the rules of procedure of the Assembly by the Speaker of the institution. He stressed that the constitutional right of a quarter of the deputies to establish investigative committees is being systematically violated.
"We have requested the establishment of several investigative committees on important issues such as roads and others, but all have been rejected. Recently, the establishment of a committee on the issue of the National Agency for the Protection of Information and Communications Technology (ANASHI), which is related to cybersecurity and citizens' data, was also blocked," he said during the lunch program at News24 with Ola Bruko.
The Democrat MP also leveled accusations against the government, claiming that institutions like the National Institute of Public Administration are being used for political and electoral interests. According to him, citizens' personal data, including salaries and other sensitive information, have been misused.
Këlliçi added that the opposition has requested several interpellations on issues related to the daily lives of citizens, such as prices and healthcare, but they have been rejected. He stressed that so far 5 requests for investigative committees have been rejected and 7 interpellations have been rejected, while, according to him, opposition MPs have been penalized more often than those from the majority. In conclusion, Këlliçi raised questions about the future relationship of the opposition with the Assembly, emphasizing that the current situation makes it difficult to exercise the normal duties of an MP and represent citizens.

There, the patronage agents obtain data on Albanian citizens, salaries, personal data, wages, license plates. This data has been traded. We have requested interpellations on vital issues for Albanians, on medicines, on prices, on KAYO, where you yourself have fallen prey to corrupt decision-making, where you were forcibly removed from that building, to give it to a company that is part of a scandal, where Rama's name is in a file in the USA. For all these issues, which the socialists, the government, can rightly say that the opposition deputies are lying, but give them the opportunity to confront each other in the Assembly. Yesterday was one of the few times that a debate was held in the Assembly. It is Balla who disrupts the sessions. Yesterday everything was correct. The opposition deputies have done their duty. 5 requests for investigative commissions have been dismissed, 7 interpellations have been rejected. There are DP deputies punished and no measures against those of the SP. This is a big question mark that we have, in relation to public opinion and in relation to the DP base. The moment it goes to the Assembly and a deputy is prevented from exercising his duty.
