The collective hysteria to crucify the DP for everything is dangerous. It is the impotence of a society that risks losing its weight and role. When the representatives of the DP shouted that we would come to a day when no one would have the power to stand up for anyone, they laughed at us, criticized us or ignored us. The story of the German pastor in the Nazi period became banal and did not attract anyone's attention.
Unable to deal with the donkey that is destroying Albania, we fall for the samary. "It's the opposition's fault" and switch sides to continue the lethargic sleep of a dying society.
The protest against the system set up by the regime of the anti-Albanian Rama is taking place in Tirana. The DP has been presenting it as the only solution for years. The failure to respond to national protests and civil disobedience has brought us here. There are no protests with 30 people behind fences. The origin of the problem is neither these vagabonds with masks, nor the barbed wire, but the Prime Minister of Gys Agas in Tirana.
Every protest is legitimate, but the DP cannot turn every injustice (which in Albania is endless) into a national issue, and, failing that, we should sit with nails in our hands to crucify the DP.
Other stories with oligarchs and the silence of the opposition are tales to dismiss the impossibility of falling for the donkey. The DP has always fought its battle.
We need to understand how far the duty of a political party goes. We have, as a society, hatred for the rich. In fact, those who are commonly called oligarchs are people who have been in the market since the '90s and have built wealth, have dozens of businesses and thousands of employees today. The real oligarchs are known who they are.
These star oligarchs, about whom we often speak, a political party stands up to them when they receive public money, and this is what the DP has done for the past 13 years. I'm not saying that it has never yielded anywhere, but the DP has done and is doing, since it exists, much more than it deserves, and it is much ahead of society as a whole, which has surrendered to patronage and subservience.
All the pieces of Albania that are being sacrificed today were not given with the signature of DP officials, nor under the DP government. The protected areas did not lose their status under its leadership. On the contrary, most were recognized as such at the time when this party led the country.
A healthy society does not waste time looking for false culprits. It has the courage to identify the true source of problems and confront it. Only in this way can it emerge from apathy and regain its role in defending freedom, democracy, and the public interest.
