United States Vice President JD Vance will travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan during February, US President Donald Trump announced yesterday through his Truth Social platform.

In his post, Trump thanked the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, for respecting the peace agreement signed in August last year in Washington, under the auspices of the US administration.

"I want to thank President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan for honoring the peace agreement we signed last August. In February, Vice President Vance will travel to these two countries to continue our efforts for peace," Trump wrote.

The agreement reached in Washington aims to end a decades-long territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It envisages the creation of a transit zone that will pass through Armenian territory and connect Azerbaijan with its enclave, Nakhichevan.

This transit zone, an early demand of Baku, will be called the “Trump Roadmap to International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP). Under the agreement, the United States will have development rights in this corridor, enabling Washington to advance its strategic interests in a key region rich in hydrocarbon resources. Vice President Vance’s visit is expected to focus on implementing the agreement and strengthening regional stability.
