If you are a young journalist looking for an experience that takes you beyond the daily routine of the newsroom, PENA – Press Education & Newsroom Access can be one of the most valuable opportunities for your professional development.
The new Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) program is designed as a 9-month fellowship that combines advanced training, mentoring, international experience, and practical work in journalism.
Participants will begin with a training cycle on topics such as ethics in journalism , investigative methods , and journalism in the age of Artificial Intelligence , under the guidance of local and international experts.
The program then moves on to one of its most important components: a three- month fellowship at a prominent media outlet in the United States , with the opportunity to experience firsthand the workings of a newsroom, make professional contacts, and be exposed to new journalism practices. Travel, accommodation, health insurance , and financial support during this period are covered by the program.
In the final phase, each participant will develop an individual journalism project , also supported by a research microgrant, which will become part of their professional portfolio.
PENA is looking for young journalists with potential, curiosity, and a desire to learn, experiment, and turn ideas into concrete work.
To apply, candidates must be 22–32 years old , Albanian citizens, have at least two years of experience in journalism , very good knowledge of English, and a university degree.
