At least 10 people have died in northwest China's Gansu Province after torrential rains caused flash floods in a tourist area of ​​Weiyuan County.

According to the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, powerful water currents trapped several visitors who were camping in the area, causing a tragedy.

Another 23 people were injured in the floods, while emergency teams and local authorities are engaged in rescue operations and providing assistance to those affected.

Flash floods are common in mountainous areas of China during periods of heavy rainfall. In these regions, water levels can rise rapidly, creating dangerous situations within minutes for residents and tourists.
