A wide-ranging security and health operation has been activated at the port of Tenerife after cases of Hantavirus were discovered on board the MV Hondius cruise ship.
Spanish authorities have intervened immediately, implementing strict biosecurity protocols and strong control measures in the surrounding area, in order to prevent any risk of the virus spreading.
Passengers are being disembarked under unusual security conditions, under constant surveillance by health teams and law enforcement. They are being transported to the airport by special vehicles, while the personnel engaged in the operation are equipped with special protective clothing.
According to reports, this is one of the most complex operations in recent years in this area, involving hundreds of police officers and emergency structures.
