This Saturday, the fourth meeting of the "In Defense of Democracy" Summit took place in Barcelona, attended by 3000 invited representatives of the political left, heads of state, former leaders, and around 400 mayors, trade unions, and activists.
As seen in the footage, Prime Minister Edi Rama has met closely with the son of philanthropist George Soros, Alex Soros, where they exchanged gifts. In the photos shared by Soros, it is seen that the two have given gifts to each other. "Progressives in Barcelona," Soros writes in the published photos with Rama.
According to Reuters, this summit, called by the Prime Minister of Spain and the President of Brazil Lula da Silva, aims to reawaken the left and mobilize it in joint action in the face of the rise of the far right in the EU elections in 2024, called the 'Global Progressive Mobilization'.
