After the extraordinary success with 4 sold-out performances on the stage of the National Theater of Opera, Ballet and Popular Ensemble, the ballet "Carmen" begins another important chapter in its artistic journey, traveling to Italy to take to the prestigious stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
On May 23 and 24, at the “Comunale Nouveau”, the Ballet Troupe of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tirana will perform for the Italian public in two evenings full of passion, elegance and emotion. The performances will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 20:30 PM, and on Sunday, May 24, at 16:00 PM.
This trip comes after the successful presentation of the TKOBAP Symphony Orchestra in Bologna in October, together with violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, marking another important step in strengthening artistic collaborations and promoting Albanian culture on European stages.
In this production, the protagonists are the Ballet Troupe of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tirana and the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, under the direction of conductor Paolo Paroni, which will perform live the music of Georges Bizet, adapted and enriched with the original interventions of Giuseppe Calì.
In the iconic role of Carmen, one of the stars of Albanian ballet, Anbeta Toromani, former prima ballerina of the theater, takes to the stage in her debut in Bologna. The role of Don José will be performed by Alessandro Macario, the Neapolitan dancer trained at the Ballet School of the Teatro di San Carlo, who has been affirmed in recent years as one of the main performers of the historic Neapolitan institution.
Escamillo will be performed by Luca Curreli, who grew up artistically at the Norwegian National Ballet at the Oslo Opera and is now engaged as a principal dancer and soloist on international stages, alongside great names. While Micaela and the Captain will be performed respectively by Odeta Dishnica and Gerd Vaso, soloists of the Ballet Company of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tirana.
