A serious traffic accident occurred at noon on Friday, August 14, at the entrance to the Aktion underwater tunnel, upstream from Preveza, when a truck collided with three cars. According to information, eight people were injured. They are four men, two women and two children.

The truck and the three cars suffered serious damage, while the injured were transported to Preveza Hospital by EKAB ambulances. Information indicates that none of them are in danger of life. The incident caused an immediate traffic stop, blocking hundreds of drivers. According to initial data, a total of four vehicles were involved in the accident. In circumstances that are being examined by the Authorities, a heavy vehicle (truck) with Greek license plates, driven by a Greek citizen, is suspected of having crashed into three private passenger cars, dragging them and causing a multiple collision. According to information, the three cars were from Italy, Germany and Romania, respectively.
Due to the severity of the collision, the Preveza Fire Department was immediately mobilized, which launched an operation to extract three people from the vehicles. Immediately after their release, EKAB ambulances took the injured and transported them to the Preveza Hospital.

The competent services rushed to the scene to assess the situation and remove the vehicles.
Also, on the road from Aktio to Preveza, queues of several kilometers had formed, with drivers experiencing great inconvenience. As reported by local media Preveza Today, there was strong dissatisfaction among drivers blocked on the Aktio side. According to the report, there was insufficient information about what had happened and how long the disruption would last, while the lack of police forces at the specific point was recorded, which made coordination and informing the public difficult.
