The State Police has finalized in Vlora the 93rd phase of the operation codenamed "Operacionalja", by arresting a citizen declared internationally wanted by the Spanish authorities, suspected of being part of a criminal group involved in drug trafficking.
According to the official announcement, within the framework of cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid, citizen Klevi Kananaj, 30 years old, was located and arrested in the city of Vlora, and will be extradited to Spain.
Spanish authorities had issued an arrest warrant against him for the criminal offense of "drug trafficking", following an investigation related to a quantity of 82.84 kilograms of cocaine seized on February 5, 2026 in the port of Vigo, Spain.
According to the investigation, the drugs were found hidden in a container, while two other people were arrested red-handed while attempting to remove the cargo. It is suspected that Kananaj had the role of observing the container from outside the terminal and then left initially towards Catalonia and further to Italy. The operation was carried out by the structures of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force in cooperation with international partners, while the procedures for his extradition to Spain are ongoing.

A member of a criminal group accused of trafficking a container with 82.84 kg of cocaine, seized on 05.02.2026, in the port of Vigo, Spain, is arrested in Vlora.
As a result of the real-time exchange of information between Spanish counterparts and the DFPO services, through Interpol Tirana specialists, regarding the location of a citizen declared internationally wanted, the operation codenamed "Operacional 93" was finalized.
During this phase, citizen Klevi Kananaj, 30 years old, born in Vlora, was located in Vlora and provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Spain.
For this citizen, the judicial authorities in Spain, on 03.03.2026, issued an arrest warrant for the criminal offense of "Drug Trafficking".
The 30-year-old is accused of collaborating with other citizens to traffic 82.84 kg of cocaine, hidden in a container, into Spain. The narcotics were seized by the Spanish Police on 05.02.2026, at the port of Vigo, where 2 citizens were also arrested in flagrante delicto while attempting to remove the cargo.
Investigations suspect that the 30-year-old's role was to observe the container from outside the terminal. He initially left for Catalonia, and 11 days after the incident, fled to Italy. Cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid continues to finalize the procedure for the 30-year-old's extradition.
