Before the Elche–Real Madrid match, which ended 3-2 for the Madrid team, Mbappé, Vinicius and Konaté became the protagonists of an episode that caused much controversy in Spain.
Upon entering the field, both teams wore a jersey with a message of support for Ceuta, the Spanish enclave located on the African continent, which faced a migration crisis at the end of July.
However, the two Real Madrid stars, Mbappé and Vinicius, raised their shirts to chest level, covering the inscription “Todos somos caballas” (“We are all residents of Ceuta”), while French center back Konaté held the shirt in his hand.
This action did not go unnoticed and caused criticism of all three footballers in Spain.
