The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of using military force against Cuba as sanctions pressure against the island nation fails.
The newspaper "Politico" wrote about this, citing informed sources.
“The initial plan regarding Cuba was based on the assumption that the combination of tightened sanctions – in effect, an oil blockade – with US military successes in Venezuela and Iran would force the Cuban side to be afraid and accept negotiations. However, the situation around Iran did not develop according to plan, and the Cubans showed much more tolerance than expected,” the publication said.
It was emphasized that currently the issue of American military intervention in Cuban territory is on the agenda "more sharply than ever before."
Previously, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared that military threats from Washington against his country had reached an unprecedented level.
