US President Donald Trump said that a possible deployment of Iranian mines in the Strait of Hormuz would be "suicidal" for the Islamic Republic.
Trump made the statement at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at the White House.
According to Trump, if Tehran decides to mine the Strait of Hormuz, this could lead to serious consequences for Iran itself. “If they do this, it would be a form of suicide,” the American leader said. At the same time, the American President noted that Washington has no confirmed information about the mining of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also said the Pentagon estimates that more than 30 Iranian destroyers have been destroyed. "As far as we know, we've destroyed them all," he said.
In addition, the American leader threatened to strike oil infrastructure on Kharkov Island if the conflict escalates further.
