Residents of the village of Qinam in the municipality of Kolonja have risen in protest this Saturday against the project to install solar panels in pasture areas.
During the protest, residents expressed that although the municipality has held several informational meetings, the decisions made so far do not reflect their concerns at all.
They emphasized that they feel excluded from the process and unprotected by institutions.
Residents recall that the pastures and fields that are expected to be replaced with panels have been divided for generations among village families, and that up to 4000 heads of livestock, including 600 cows, graze there.
According to them, the removal of these areas would paralyze the entire agricultural and livestock cycle of the area.
One of the farmers said that installing solar panels could ultimately drive away even the last families who rely on livestock for their livelihood.
Residents are calling on institutions for urgent intervention, stating that protecting pastures is the only way to preserve the village's economy.
