The State Police has announced that during the rally organized this afternoon in front of the Prime Minister's Office building and then at the Parliament, some protesters carried out serious acts of violence against police officers and state institutions. Despite repeated calls to distance themselves from violence, some protesters used Molotov cocktails, pyrotechnics and hard objects, causing physical injuries and burns to the officers.
As a result of the attacks, 16 police officers were transported to the hospital for medical assistance. The police emphasize that they were engaged throughout the rally to guarantee public order and safety, as well as to ensure the exercise of the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
Law enforcement structures are documenting all cases of violence with the aim of identifying and punishing the perpetrators in accordance with the law. The police thank the citizens who distanced themselves from the violent acts and the media for the transparency provided during the events.
