Activist Orion Çela, invited to News24 with journalist Daljana Sejdia, commented on the protest held today in Tirana, stating that one of the goals was to convey the message to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, that citizens have been protesting for 123 days and are also seeking the support of the European Union.

"The protest was to say that we have been protesting for 123 days and we also want the support of the EU. The police have pushed us with the justification of the security perimeter. Citizens cannot be isolated to have their say. I think the message we wanted was conveyed today," Çela declared.

Asked what he would say to Von der Leyen if he had the chance to meet her, the activist said that the protesters support European integration, but demand political change in the country.

"If I could, I would like to tell Von der Leyen that we love the EU and that they help us take the country to the EU without Rama," he said.

Çela stated that the protest continues to produce hope and motivation, while claiming that citizens are disappointed by political developments and by the fact that Prime Minister Edi Rama has not resigned.

"There is still hope in the protest, we are even more motivated. Albanians are disappointed that after all these scandals, Rama is not resigning. They are disappointed by the rotten political class. Albanians have lost their fear of protesting," said Çela.

He announced increased student participation on October 13, describing the engagement of young people as an important element for the continuation of the protest.

"On October 13, we expect students en masse, when students are organized. We expect youth, vitality, hope, energy. I believe that will be the reason that will bring down Rama," the activist declared.

In the end, Çela insisted that the protesters' demand remains the removal of the prime minister.

"The protest does not end without Rama's resignation. We do not negotiate with the prime minister," he concluded.
