After the case was published in News24, that the Adriatic coast in Fier was overflowing with urban and industrial waste from the flows of the Vjosa and Seman rivers, the municipality has launched an action to clean the sandy strip. The increased flows of the rivers brought tons of plastic, inert and wood waste, which ended up in
the coast of Darëzeza and the Seman estuary, causing pollution at alarming levels.
The action began on Thursday and will continue until all accumulated waste, which is located over a large area, is removed.
River flows increased due to intense rainfall, where in addition to the damage caused by flooding, citizens faced environmental pollution. This problem recurs every time there is heavy rainfall, causing damage to the biodiversity of the river and the sea.
