Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia is waiting for the arrival of US representatives to resume negotiations on the war in Ukraine, stressing that this could happen after the latest international developments end. “We are waiting, as soon as all the events are over, after the heated phase regarding the Iranian file is over, for the arrival of representatives of the US government with whom we have already met in Moscow,” Putin said in an interview published by the Kremlin.

He added that Russia is ready to continue talks "on all the details", signaling openness to further dialogue with the United States. His statements come after the G7 summit in France, where former US President Donald Trump stressed that Russia must reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, otherwise Washington could restore previously suspended sanctions.

Putin has previously argued that American attention has been diverted from the war in Ukraine due to tensions in the Middle East, particularly over developments around Iran. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the US administration of "abandoning neutrality" and pursuing an approach based on pressure and sanctions against Russia.
