The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, congratulated Albanian citizens on the Summer Day from Elbasan, which he considered the center of the most ancient Albanian holiday. He described this day as a symbol of hope, inspiration and renewal, inviting Albanians to celebrate it with joy and faith in the future.

In his speech, Berisha criticized the current government, mentioning Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister Belinda Balluku, and said that according to him, “they left the next bad holiday to winter and Rama and Balluku have no future.” He also expressed regret that this year marks the first Summer Day in 34 years when the doors of Europe were closed to Albanians, linking this to the actions of the current government.

Berisha concluded by expressing his hope that next year's Summer Day will find Albanians free to celebrate, with doors open towards the future and towards European integration.

"First of all, to the citizens, residents of Elbasan, today as the capital of the holiday for the entire nation, I wish you a happy Summer Day, the most ancient holiday not only of Albanians, in fact, but also of other nations, a day that inspires hope, inspires renewal, a day of joy."
And today, Albanians celebrate this holiday more convinced than ever that they left the evil of the other holiday to winter and Rama and Lubina no longer have a future.
This is the last day of summer that finds them with broken chairs as they are.
They don't deserve it!
So let us hope that on the next summer day, the citizens of Elbasan and all of Albania celebrate it as their hearts desire, celebrate it with open doors towards the future and towards Europe.
"It is sad and painful that in 34 years this is the first summer day in which the doors of Europe were closed to Albanians due to the unprecedented actions in the history of countries moving towards integration by the Rama-Balluku duo. So let us hope and work so that the next summer day finds us as close as possible to our European dream," he said.
