TIRANA Prime Minister Edi Rama, in addition to the 'criticism' he directed at our diplomats who represent us in the world, also gave good news for them, while emphasizing that there will be a salary increase for them. During a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the Albanian government affirmed that the time has come for the salary difference between the countries of the region to narrow.

Among other things, he warned that there are still diplomats who he described as "scammers." Ironically, he stated that he does not want to move on to drivers, labeling them as "scam drivers."

"For a small country like Albania with an unspeakable difficulty in regaining lost time, our classical diplomacy (ours is not classical) cannot be an option that we can agree on. We agree that our commitments cannot be met with a verbal note or by justifying the salary with an article. We will free ourselves from the shackles of diplomacy. We do not need diplomats who wake up and go to sleep. Diplomats who you want to forget as soon as you turn your back do not help us anywhere, because when you are with them you are afraid that they will not see you. In these 4 years, quite a lot has been done to clean up the parasites, except for the reason to serve with dignity. But we still have diplomats who are scoundrels and parasites. I invite you to raise your voice in the ministry. I am not going down to the ambassadors' drivers, who I can call low-class drivers. The Albania that we are building needs people who want and know how to talk and who know how to make friends. We should not sell a false image, but we have the right to say that we should present our best," said Rama.

Among other things, he added: "We need clarity, dedication, discipline and another level of organization between the foreign service, this ministry and other development ministries in the country. You should all be convinced that I recognize the large volume of work that the foreign service has. There is still a lot to do until this sensitive part goes completely online. There is no question that the path is the right one, the results are encouraging. There is also no question that we will do more to guarantee opportunities and dignified conditions in your work and living. I have asked our experts to present several scenarios for increasing the financial contribution for you. The time has come to narrow the large difference in salaries between us and the countries of the region and to reduce it to zero within this mandate."
