Prime Minister Edi Rama has asked SPAK to confirm the accusations against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, one of which is online purchases of over 800 thousand euros for clothing and jewelry.

Prime Minister Rama said that today 'we are in conditions where everything risks degrading into an activist justice. And in this space there are those who shout "guillotine for all" "Hosanna" because it doesn't matter whether there is evidence or not, whether it is true or not.

It is important that anyone who deals with politics, anyone who exposes their face, anyone who makes themselves available for this work is a criminal, a thief who should be hanged, and on the other hand, there are enemies of justice reform who attack SPAK prosecutors and Special Court judges every day, every night. These are two extremes.

"We cannot be at either extreme and we cannot leave this gap any longer, but we must demand accountability. Not by saying who is guilty and who is innocent, but by demanding accountability."

"If Erion Veliaj and his wife bought 800 thousand euros worth of dresses and jewelry, we have nothing to discuss at all, but we have the right to demand evidence, proof, and we have the right to say that in the meantime, throwing this figure in the parliament is absolutely intentional to exalt the mass that demands hunting and on the other hand to create a situation where it is impossible to discuss, in any case, for all of this, we will follow this process very carefully," said Rama.
