Democratic Party MP Albana Vokshi has made strong accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that he is using his family to take money linked to crime out of the country. She also announced that the DP will return the request for the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission into the Prime Minister's chartered trips.
In a statement to the media, Vokshi also referred to the positions of the European Parliament MEP, Tomáš Zdechovský, who, according to her, has raised concerns about corruption and the functioning of institutions in Albania following a fact-finding mission by the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control.
According to Vokshi, the reports of this mission have highlighted concerns about widespread corruption, possible links to organized crime, problems with public procurement, political pressure on supervisory institutions, and misuse of European funds.
Vokshi also claimed that European institutions are following financial movements and verifying claims of assets and money being transferred abroad through the prime minister's family members. She described these as very serious accusations and demanded a public reaction from Edi Rama.

The statement by MEP Tomáš Zdechovský, a member of the European People's Party (EPP) Group, is one of the most serious signals the Albanian government has ever received from a representative of European institutions.
Mr. Zdechovský was part of the official fact-finding mission of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control to Albania in September 2025, which, after meetings with the Albanian government, reached disturbing conclusions, finding widespread and entrenched corruption, links to organized crime, procurement with chronic delays in infrastructure, political pressure on supervisory bodies, weak judicial prosecution, marginalization of civil society and misuse of EU funds.
In a public interview two days ago, Zdechovský went even further, openly stating that corruption will never be part of the European Union, and that if Edi Rama continues to abuse power in an anti-democratic manner, Albania will never become a member of the EU. He added that the same message has been conveyed to Rama by the US Embassy and other international partners. He further revealed that European institutions are following financial movements and verifying claims of assets and money being transferred abroad through the Prime Minister’s family members. He said that this is the message, and Edi Rama understands this message very well.
These are extremely serious accusations, made publicly by a senior European official.
The clear message to citizens is that Edi Rama is hindering the integration process.
And yet, to this day, Prime Minister Rama remains silent, like never before.
The Democratic Party demands: public clarification from Edi Rama;
Launching the SPAK investigation in cooperation with international partners;
full cooperation of Albanian institutions with European authorities;
and the reinstatement of the request for a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission on the Prime Minister's chartered trips.
Albanians have the right to the truth: if the accusations are untrue, let it be proven transparently;
But if they are true, no one can be above the law.
