The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused Edi Rama's government of increasing the fiscal burden on Albanian businesses, warning of bankruptcies and job losses.
In a video message from the Democratic Party headquarters, Berisha stated that the announced package foresees an increase in the dividend tax from 8% to 15%, profit tax from 15% to 17%, and a reduction in the VAT threshold from 10 to 5 million lek.
According to the democratic leader, these measures will also affect the increase in prices for citizens.

Dear citizens,
Last night, in an insidious but equally villainous act, without consulting any factor or interest group, the country's godfather, with Petrit Balluku in finance, announced that they will increase taxes by hundreds of millions of euros for Albanian businesses.
They announce that they will double the dividend tax from 8 to 15%, increase the corporate tax from 15 to 17%, and reduce the VAT turnover level from 10 million to 5 million.
In short, the truth is that they will lead to the bankruptcy of hundreds and thousands of businesses and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of jobs.
Friends, this measure of disloyalty comes at a time when, due to Edi Rama's drug-state, in Albania the euro and the dollar have suffered the largest devaluation in the world, respectively 35%. As a result, the country's exports have depreciated by the same amount, industrial production has fallen by 15.3%, exports have fallen by 28%.
This tax increase marks a further bankruptcy, but also a further increase in prices for Albanians. And when you consider that all of this ends up in the pockets and bank accounts of a criminal organization, the crime becomes monstrous.
I promise Albanian citizens that the Democratic Party will cancel this package and impose a 10% flat tax, and that it will raise the VAT payment level to 15 million lek, while it will reduce the VAT on food and basic goods to 6%.
