Lionsgate has announced that the film "John Rambo," the predecessor to the famous action saga, will be released in theaters on June 4, 2027.
The film will tell the origin story of the iconic character John Rambo and will take place before the events of the cult film First Blood. It is directed by Jalmari Helander.

Noah Centineo will star as the new version of Rambo, replacing Sylvester Stallone, the actor who made the character legendary on the big screen. The Rambo franchise, which spans five films, has grossed over $819 million at the global box office.

The film will also star David Harbour, James Franco, Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah and Jefferson White. The production team includes Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon, while Sylvester Stallone, Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Trevor Short, Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk will serve as executive producers. According to Deadline Hollywood, the script is being written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.
