Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has reacted harshly to Prime Minister Edi Rama, following the latter's statements about Albania's readiness to help European countries cope with the fires. In a post on social media, Salianji described the situation as "not something to laugh at, but something to put your hands on your head", accusing Rama of failing to govern the country and of using propaganda to create the image of a "savior" of Europe.

According to him, while Albanian firefighters face a lack of means and equipment, the prime minister promotes aid to other countries. "While Albanian firefighters are left without means, without equipment and in many cases are forced to fight the flames with tree branches or wait until it rains. Solidarity with friendly countries, but Edi Rama makes propaganda by offering himself as a 'savior' for France and Spain," writes Salianji.

He adds that the government has neglected investments, public services, and capacities to cope with emergencies, while asking the prime minister to resign.

It's not something to laugh at, but something to put your hands on your head. The man who set Albania on fire with misgovernment, lack of investment, abandonment of public services, corruption and criminalization of the administration is today being sold as the savior of Europe.
