Lawyer Greta Ambeli, guest on the show "News24 "Weekend" with Megi Latif, commented on the serious event that shocked public opinion yesterday, where Refit Buzi killed his ex-partner's parents, and in the end, after hours of negotiations with the police, he refused to surrender and committed suicide.

She also looked at the event from the perspective of violence against women and social issues related to family relationships. Ambeli stated that in many cases one of the main factors that leads to serious conflicts is the refusal to accept the end of a relationship, emphasizing the need for education and respect for women.

"What happened yesterday was a very terrible event that shocked the entire public opinion, but I would also look at it from the perspective of the woman and the fact that here again the cause was a woman," said the lawyer.

She added that, according to the information made public so far, the psychological violence that the victim may have experienced, in case there was persecution, should also be taken into consideration. According to Ambel, Albanian families should educate generations with a culture of respect and acceptance of decisions within a relationship.

"When an individual realizes that a relationship has ended, it should be resolved through legal means, such as divorce, and not through violence," she said.

The lawyer emphasized that cases of domestic violence are numerous and that many women are forced to face economic and social difficulties, even living in the same apartment with the persons from whom they have sought protection.

"Cases of domestic violence are numerous, as are the protection orders that women receive. There are cases when they are forced to still live in the same house due to economic difficulties," declared Ambeli.

She called for a more in-depth analysis by institutions, arguing that such cases should not only be treated by punishing the perpetrator after the event, but also with policies that prevent their recurrence.

"This case, like many other events, should serve as a wake-up call for criminal policies in Albania. We need to analyze whether the system should focus only on punishment or also on education and prevention," she said.

According to the lawyer, the psychological factors of the perpetrators of crimes, family relationships, upbringing, and the influence of the environment in which they grew up should also be studied.

"There must be a deep analysis of the individual's psychological conditions, the relationships they have lived in, and the role of the family, as in some cases even parents can become a source of conflict for the couple," concluded Greta Ambeli.
