The Supreme Court today rejected Mayor Erion Veliaj's appeal for a security measure, leaving him in prison.

Veliaj's appeal was filed on May 6, just 2 days after the decision made by the Joint Panels of the Supreme Court, which partially changed the practice regarding the measure of arrest.

"It is requested that the security measure "Arrest in prison", provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, be replaced with a milder security measure such as "Property guarantee" provided for by Article 236 of the Criminal Procedure Code or "Obligation to report to the judicial police", provided for by Article 234 of the Criminal Procedure Code", Veliaj's request stated.
