Political scientist Ermal Hasimja has provided an overview of the political situation in the Democratic Party and the reconfirmation of Sali Berisha as leader of the DP.
During the interview in News24", he underlined that Berisha's reconfirmation was expected and that according to him, the problem remains the lack of competition.
"The last time there was a race for the post of chairman was in 2005-2006 if I'm not mistaken and since then we haven't had a race. Even in the new parties the same situation, it seems like there is a culture that makes the chairman of the party take extraordinary power and in relation to Berisha, or all those personalities in the DP do not undertake to enter the race. Apparently they have ambitions to become chairman after Berisha", he said.
He also emphasized that there is a demoralization among the Democrats regarding the situation the party is in, adding that the opposition must unite in a single front.
"I hope that the opposition parties will cooperate with each other to create a single opposition throne and that is what we are working towards. I also hope that not only will there be cooperation but that all parties will raise their level and here I am talking about all parties as a whole," he said.
