Confindustria has called on the government to immediately intervene in the fuel market, following what it describes as a strong and unjustified increase in prices during the last 10 days of July and beyond.

The organization proposes four urgent measures to ease the burden on citizens and businesses.
First, Konfindustria is calling for a reduction of at least 15% in the fiscal burden on fuels, estimating that this would result in a reduction of at least 20 lek per liter in the retail price. According to it, countries such as Italy and Germany have already implemented similar tax cuts, with a direct impact on the market.
The reinstatement of the Transparency Board is also demanded, with the argument that the possible tax reduction should be fully reflected in the prices paid by citizens and businesses, and not end up as additional profit for market operators. Konfindustria considers the Albanian fuel market to be a typical monopolistic and oligopolistic market.

The organization is calling for immediate controls on the quality of fuels traded in the country. According to it, there are indications that significant quantities of fuels outside the Euro 3 standard have been placed on the market, endangering public health, the environment, vehicles and state revenues.

Konfindustria demands the engagement of state institutions and SPAK in the fight against fuel smuggling, emphasizing that this causes damage of hundreds of millions of euros to the state budget. As an example, the Kosovo authorities' crackdown on fuel smuggling lines from Albania is mentioned, where, according to the organization, Kosovo customs found cargoes filled with water.
The statement highlights that retail oil prices in Albania, currently fluctuating around 2.15–2.20 euros per liter, remain significantly higher than in the countries of the region and in a significant part of the European Union. According to it, this situation is exerting great pressure on industry, domestic production and the household economy.

Confindustria, taking cause from the strong and unjustified increase in fuel prices in the last 10 days of July and onwards, demands immediate regulatory intervention by the government in 4 directions.

First, a reduction of at least 15% in the tax burden on fuels is required. The above should result in at least a 20 lek/liter reduction in retail prices. Italy and Germany have immediately implemented 15-20% reductions in fuel taxes with direct effect on the market.

Secondly, it is required at the same time to re-establish the Transparency Board in order to ensure that the possible tax reduction is fully passed on to citizens and businesses and not to fuel operators. The fuel market in Albania is a typical monopoly and pure oligopoly market.

Third, institutions are required to immediately control the quality of fuels circulating on the market. There is evidence that large quantities of fuel outside the Euro 3 standards have been released onto the market with serious consequences for health, the environment, cars and the state budget.

Fourth, the extraordinary intervention of state institutions and SPAK is required to combat fuel smuggling, which has resulted in hundreds of millions of euros in damage to the state budget. The crackdown by the Kosovo authorities on the smuggling lines of fuel transit from Albania, which resulted in Kosovo customs being filled with water, is a clear given.
Retail oil prices in the local market have long been at the level of 2,15-2,2 euros/liter, significantly higher than in the countries of the region and many EU countries. The above brings an additional strong and devastating blow to industries, local production and citizens.
