Two arrest warrants signed by the Court of Brescia and 24 security measures, including 9 arrests, have led to the dismantling of a large international drug trafficking network based in the province of Brescia. Investigations by the Guardia di Finanza revealed that the main bases of activity were located in Rovato and Palazzolo.
According to Italian media, the criminal network was controlled by Albanian clans, which managed the import and distribution of narcotics in Italian territory. During the operation, a considerable amount of money related to the trafficking was also seized.
Investigations revealed that the cocaine came from South America, while the heroin originated in Albania. Bus drivers were also identified in the scheme, who – without their knowledge – transported the drug packages, while several truck drivers were found to be directly involved and collaborating with the criminal group.
The operation is considered by Italian authorities as a significant blow to international drug trafficking and the organized activity of Albanian clans in the region.
