Residents of the village of Luz, along with several businesses in the area, have launched a protest in response to the deteriorating condition of the road that passes through the village and connects it to the highway and the rest of the country. This road segment is part of the Great Ring Road of the city of Fushë-Krujë and, according to residents, has been completely degraded for years, as heavy vehicles that serve the cement factory, quarries and other industrial activities constantly circulate on it.
Residents say they have filed continuous complaints and that all relevant institutions are aware of the situation. According to them, they were even promised that the road would be reconstructed and returned to normal in October, but to date there has been no intervention.
They demand the complete reconstruction of the road and the ban on the circulation of heavy trucks, as this situation poses a serious threat to the lives of residents and especially to about 150 children from the “Gjon Luka” school, which is located next to the road. According to them, the sidewalks are narrow and the movement of students is extremely dangerous.
"There are about 1,000 of us living along this road. In the summer we are forced to keep our doors and windows closed because of the dust, while in the winter mud and ice get inside our houses. Every day we walk on the sidewalks in fear because of the trucks," the residents say. The protesters call on the state and responsible institutions to urgently intervene and take concrete measures to solve this problem.
