A powerful storm hit the city of Saranda yesterday afternoon, causing damage to several areas within just a few minutes.
The intense rainfall, accompanied by strong winds that lasted about five minutes, was enough to topple trees, block roads and create problems for vehicle traffic. Damage was also reported at several businesses along the promenade, where the strong wind damaged structures and equipment.
One of the most serious incidents was recorded on the road in front of the city stadium, where a pine tree fell on three vehicles, causing material damage.
According to information from the Saranda emergency department, three people received medical assistance after being injured by broken glass fragments as a result of the storm. Fortunately, after treatment, they have returned to their homes and are out of danger.
Footage from the scene shows the dramatic moments of the storm, as alarmed tourists can be heard shouting: "Run! What's happening?!" as strong winds sweep through the area.
Meanwhile, Saranda Municipality service employees have immediately gone to the field to clean the roads, remove fallen trees and monitor the situation in the most affected areas, while authorities are calling on citizens to be careful until conditions fully normalize.
