“The Democratic Party does not have the luxury of losing any of its figures!” This is what Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku declared during a conversation with young people in Shkodra. Responding to a young person’s question about whether Ervin Salianji should be allowed to run against current leader Sali Berisha in the internal party elections, Tabaku said that the Democratic Party at this point does not have the luxury of losing any of its figures, inviting former MP Salianji to participate in the internal discussions of the blue headquarters.
According to Tabaku, parties should not be treated as monopolies, but the vote should be the element that decides their performance.
Speaking about the last parliamentary elections, where she was part of the open list candidacies, Jorida Tabaku confessed that she even considered withdrawing from this race, considering this voting method inappropriate.
"I have followed Mr. Salianji's discussion in the media and my request to him is that he fight the battle in the DP, the DP has suffered enough these years for the battle fought in the television studios.
It doesn't matter where I or Salianji are tomorrow, but where the DP and the Democrats will be. For me, this debate should take place within the DP, when it takes place outside it is worrying. I don't see it happening outside in the SP, for example. We have plenty of forums to talk about. I won't make the mistake I made in the past 3 years today, I won't give opinions that I have to give in the party forums. I don't know if there will be a decision by the Presidency to close the doors. Let's give time to the institutions and the internal debate to make the right decision. For me, the DP doesn't have the luxury of losing anyone, we need to grow and expand, to reach out to everyone. In a political party, votes decide", she said.
