The Artemis II crew's landing on Earth was a highly complex maneuver. During the return from the Moon mission, the capsule temporarily reached a speed of over 38,000 kilometers per hour, 30 times the speed of sound.

During re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, the spacecraft faced temperatures exceeding 2.700 degrees Celsius. The Orion capsule was protected from burning by a heat shield.

For about six minutes, communication with the control center was intentionally interrupted. Then, slowed by parachutes, the capsule landed in the Pacific, where the 4 astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen landed safely, after about 10 days of mission on the Moon.
