The US military is continuing a significant buildup of air and naval forces in the Middle East ahead of talks with Iran scheduled for today in Geneva.
These forces are used both to intimidate Tehran and to provide the ability to strike domestically if negotiations over its nuclear program fail.
According to sources familiar with the situation, UK-based US Air Force assets, including tankers and fighter jets, are being deployed closer to the Middle East.
In addition, the United States continues to supply the region with air defense systems, and the contracts of several US military units stationed in the relevant areas and scheduled to be replaced in the coming weeks have been extended.
According to flight tracking data, dozens of US military transport planes have been transporting equipment from the US to Jordan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. On Thursday, several fighter jets were also given diplomatic permission to enter Jordanian airspace.
Satellite images show that 12 US F-15 attack aircraft have been deployed to Jordan's Mawaffaq Salti air base since January 25.
