Protests by Albanian students in North Macedonia for the protection of the Albanian language are growing in scale.
Invited to a live broadcast on the show "Oponencje" on News24, the representative of the "Student Movement", Mevlan Ademi, expressed disappointment in the silence of Albanian leaders regarding the situation in North Macedonia.
According to him, Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has recently visited North Macedonia twice, but has not made any public reaction in support of the Albanian protesters.
He also spoke about the relationship with official Tirana, praising the Albanian ambassador to Skopje, Denion Mejdani, whom he said has been close to the protesters and the Albanian community.
"Kurti was in North Macedonia twice recently and didn't mention it at all and didn't give any supportive reaction, it's painful. The elections are more important than a handful of Albanians fighting for national identity."
As for Rama, I am grateful that the ambassador we have here was kind, he opened the doors of the embassy to us and we felt at home. I hope that Mr. Mejdani will remain in Skopje. It is painful to have one and they take him away from us now. We are petitioning so that Mr. Mejdani does not leave Skopje.
"In the first protest, there were 2-3 thousand protesters, in the second protest, 10 thousand people were present," he said.
