An extraordinary archaeological discovery has stunned researchers in Poland after a man metal-detecting in a forest near Gdansk discovered a 2700-year-old bronze sword, unusually placed upright in the ground. The amateur prospector was conducting a routine search when his metal detector gave off a strong signal. After careful digging, the hilt of an ancient bronze sword emerged just a few inches below the surface.
Archaeologists who arrived at the site determined that the weapon belongs to the Late Bronze Age, a period that dates back to approximately 900 to 700 BC. Despite the thousands of years that have passed, the sword has been preserved in good condition, making the discovery even more important for history and archaeology. Experts explain that such swords were objects of great value at that time and were made of copper, a material widely used before the development of the Iron Age. What has intrigued researchers most is the way it was found.
